Overview: The Arcadia Public Library is full service, single location city library, that serves a community of approximately 60,000 residents and businesses over a 11.2 square mile area, located 20 miles east of Los Angeles. During any given year, the Library serves over 500,000 patrons and offers a wide range of programs, collections, and services. The Library staff consists of 18 full-time, 7 permanent part-time, and 18 part-time aides. The Library’s Wi-Fi is part of the California CENIC project and the CALREN network and most recently, the Tech Center has undergone a minor upgrade.
The Arcadia City government is “full-service” with its own Police Department, Fire Department, and Library. The City is run by a City Council – City Manager form of government. The Library is governed by a Library Board of Trustees. Arcadia is known for its beautiful neighborhoods, warm character, and a “community of homes” atmosphere. It is the mission of the City to provide effective and fiscally responsible municipal services in a manner that promotes this high standard of community life. The mission of the Library falls within this umbrella and it is to provide full and equal access to materials and services that meet the educational, informational, historical, and individual interests of a diverse community. Arcadia has a broad commercial base with businesses ranging from the very small to the very large. Westfield Santa Anita is a popular regional mall; the Santa Anita Race Track is well renowned, and the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage is home to Arcadia heritage past and present.

Library Internship
Essential Duties:
Looking for 1 intern
Required: Completion of LIB 101 Introduction to Library Services for Paraprofessionals and LIB 102 Introduction to Reference Services
Recommended: LIB 103 Introduction to Library Access Services
Hours Available
Interns will be required to work during regular library staff work hours to ensure proper supervision and the opportunity to assist with a variety of duties to maximize the learning experience.
The regular staff hours are:
Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and some evenings 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The Library is closed on Sundays
