Altadena Library Teen Services Division - Fall 2017
The Altadena Library District Teen Services Department would like to open its doors to students interested in the library field and who would like to volunteer in the Teen Services Department.
The main tasks for volunteers in the Teen Services library is interacting with the Teen population and assisting in maintaining the Library’s Teen area with shelving and shelf reading. In addition, volunteers may be called to assist Teen Services staff with various tasks, which include, but are not limited to:
* Teen Programing and Activities and leading the Teen Advisory Board meetings
* Arts and Crafts
* Science and Technology Education
* Homework Help and Tutoring Programs
* Creating library book displays
The Teen Services Department will make note to select tasks that reflect the basic, day-to-day work experience in a library setting that will help prepare Library Tech Students entering the library field.
This is a great opportunity for a student who would like hands-on Teen programing experience for work in a public or school library.
Desired skills: Confidence, enthusiasm and ability to gain the attention and manage a room full of teens.
Our Teen activities take place during after school hours so our intern would need to be available between 2:30 and 6:00 pm. Monday and Tuesday the library is open until 9:00 pm and there are some programs scheduled on those days as well.
