Details: Monday or Tuesday

              Hours: 8:00-12:00 or 12:00-4:00 (can be negotiated)

 Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Library Technology Certificate Program at PCC
  • Must be comfortable working with students in grades 7-12
  • Strong computer skills and experience with database searching
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong service orientation
  • Ability to organize and multitask with close attention to detail

Desirable Skills

  • Familiar with Follett Destiny (will train)
  • Coursework in cataloging, processing books and materials

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assisting students with research, academic, and other needs
  • Checking in and out library materials; sending overdue notices
  • Minor cataloging projects
  • Processing and preparing books for circulation
  • Preparing book and library displays
  • Helping with library events and activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

This is an office/clerical job. Other than those physical/mental requirements included within the essential functions: Must be able to communicate on the telephone. Must be able to get around the media center, locate and retrieve or shelve books or materials. There is constant standing and walking; frequent bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, and reaching above the shoulder to shelve books and to stand on ladder/stool. There is occasional carrying and lifting of up to 50 pounds to receive and handle book orders, and moving library furniture.
