Volunteer Opportunity Description

Altadena Library Children’s Services Department

The Altadena Library District would like to open its doors to any student interested in the library field and who would like to volunteer in the fields of Children’s Services. (NOTE: volunteer opportunity only. Not currently available as a LIB 106 internship)

Tasks for Children’s volunteers include shelf-reading and shelving the Children’s library collection.

In addition, volunteers may be called to assist Children’s Library staff with operating tasks, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Children’s Programs
  • Children’s Crafts
  • Creating library book displays
  • Simple library book repairs
  • Special projects, such as relabelling and shifting collections

The Children’s Department will make note to select tasks that reflect the basic, day-to-day work experience in a library setting that will help prepare Library Tech Students entering the library field.

Looking for...

1 or 2 volunteers (maximum)

Hours Available:

Monday and Tuesday 10am -9pm
Wednesday - Saturday 10am-6pm
closed Sundays

NOTE: Applicants will need to complete a standard background check after the applicant interviewed and filled out paperwork.  It is standard procedure for anyone who comes into contact with minors.
