LA Harbor College Library Technology Internship

One internship is available for the FALL 2017 term. This position is unpaid.

NOTE: Enrollment in the LIB 106 Library Technology Internship course is required.  LIB 106 requires a minimum of 60 hours work experience and prerequisite courses: LIB 101 and LIB 104.

Completion of LIB 105A is recommended for this internship. Internship hours must be scheduled during Library operational hours and completed during the PCC Spring term.

Examples of Tasks and Duties: 

  • Assist with general Circulation tasks, including:
  • Utilize the library’s computer system (SirsiDynix) to check-out, check-in, sort and re-shelve circulating materials and Reserve materials.
  • Assist patrons with textbooks; photocopier assistance; check-in, sort, and re-shelve textbooks;
  • Assist with book drops; shelf reading, re-shelving various library materials; maintain supplies and library space.
  • Answer general questions and answer the telephone.
  • Explain and uphold library policies and follow Circulation procedures.

Additional tasks and duties:

  • Shelf-reading/inventory.
  • Copy cataloguing.
