Overview:

Burbank Public Library has three locations and welcomes more than 800,000 visitors a year in the media capital of the world. The mission of the Burbank Public Library is to connect the community to opportunities for growth, inspiration and discovery.

Project Description
We are looking for someone to work primarily with our clerical team on processing new materials for the collection and providing top-notch customer service. The selected intern will be exposed to all three branches, learn the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS for circulation and adding materials, and learn about customer service standards and challenges in a public library. The intern will also observe and/or help with a library program and learn about how programs fit into the library’s overall goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Assisting patrons with checking materials in and out at the circulation desk and handling other circulation tasks
  • Processing new library materials
  • Observing / helping with one library program

Looking for…
1 intern

Required:
Completion of LIB 101 Introduction to Library Services for Paraprofessionals and LIB 104 Library Technical Services.
Recommended: Completion of LIB 103

HOURS AVAILABLE:
Schedule: The Intern will work a mutually agreed upon schedule during regular library open hours.

Regular hours for Central Library are:

Mondays: 9:30am – 6:00pm
Tuesdays: 9:30am – 9:00pm
Wednesdays: 9:30am – 9:00pm
Thursdays: 9:30am – 9:00pm
Fridays: 9:30am – 6:00pm
Saturdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm
