Canvas Commons logoCanvas Commons is a learning object repository that enables educators to find, import, and share resources. A digital library full of free educational content, Commons allows Canvas users to share learning resources with other users as well as import learning resources into a Canvas course.

To access this resource, click the link titled "Commons" located in the left-hand menu of Canvas.

  • several ebook platforms, with most titles available to an unlimited number of students simultaneously. Learn about and explore the ebook collections.
  • a broad range of databases which offer magazine, newspaper, and scholarly journal articles. They also contain primary sources, videos, art and photography images and encyclopedia / reference material.

You can search almost all of PCC Library's collection simultaneously using its new Discovery system. Just go to the Library's home page and enter your keywords where it says, "Start your search here!"

Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources are teaching and learning materials that you may freely use and reuse, without charge. The growth of OER is an exciting trend for all educators, but especially for those teaching online. PCC's OER web site offers guidance for faculty on how to locate free OER resources such as textbooks, videos, course units, assessments, images, etc. for a multitude of disciplines.

The OER initiative at PCC has saved students millions of dollars in textbook costs over the past four years.
