Search books, articles and more: the PCC Library Catalog

A single search box covers our catalog of books and DVDs, as well as a large number of the periodical articles in our collection. You can search All, or you can use the tabs above the search box to narrow your search to Articles or Books.

Finding Books

The search box (above) includes books and media in the library's collection. To find resources in the library, you will need to use this search to find a call number which leads you to the specific item on the shelf.

First, try a Subject search to focus on books about your topic. Keep the subjects fairly broad. Select 'Advanced Search' and then select Subject field from the drop-down menu options.

Examples of subject headings:

  • Physical Anthropology
  • Radiocarbon Dating
  • Human evolution
  • Paleoanthropology
  • Primates

If subject searches return few or no results, try your terms in a basic keyword search. You can narrow your search by entering several specific terms. Note that you do not have to enter 'stop words' (and, the, with, to...) - just enter the keywords only.

Sample keyword searches:

  • Human evolution brain
  • Africa hominids
